Travel, Gaps, and Texts

I have been in technology limbo while traveling and am going to post all texts missed. I hope that those who have been following along in their readings will drop in a few posts.

Day 10

To be sent - sounds like an e-mail, a post card, a letter, a parcel - and Jesus sent disciples. Read the experience of the first messages that Jesus sent to the world. What was the result? What obstacles did the messages encounter? How is the experience of the first messages like your experience as a living message?

Luke 10

Luke 11

Day 6

A birth of a child is nothing new. Birth happens every day, every hour, every minute, yet this birth stands as “special” in all time. Listen as Luke describes the event, note the “special” moments, and reflect on how “special” this child and His birth changed the cycle of events in Isreal at the time of His birth.

Day 5

Intimacy, betrayal, and murder. A murder mystery that started with a meal, a rabbi, a prostitute and Simon. You are stepping into the last hours of the life of Jesus. Roam the avenues of Jerusalem, the upper room, the garden, the high priest’s home, the courtyard, Pilate’s hall, the “Place of the Skull”, the tomb, and the ressurection. It is a tour of brutality, betrayal, intrigue, and redemption…watch out for the ending – that is where the real mystery begins.

First, of all the characters you met, “Which one are you most like?, “What does the story mean to you the ‘character’?”

Second, step out of the story and into the present, ”What does the story mean to you today?”

PS For those of you checking of your readings on the printed form. I’m catching us up to the correct passage of the day. Thanks Cathie Jones for bringing it to my attention.

Day 4

Turmult and struggle are part of every life. The story shifts, the emotions grow stronger, the characters darker and brighter – who Jesus is takes on a public clarity. Follow the trail of emotions, map the relationships, step into a character role and take on the emotions of the character, and fall into the story.

Be surprised by Christ.

Day 3

Keep it simple. Reading scripture is not complicated. A key belief that fueled the Reformation was and still is that people can understand the Bible. So pick yours up today and start reading. Remember the basic questions - Who?,  What?, When?, Where?, How?, and Why?

Mark 8

Mark 9

Day 2

Read to be suprised by the stories of the passage. Place yourself in the pages as a detective, reporter, or participant. Look at your surroundings, listen to the sounds around you, smell the breezes, touch the textures, taste the food, become involved in the story. These stories are new each day. Read and be blessed.

The following passages are found at BibleGateway.com and are from the New Living Translation.

Mark 6

Mark 7

The Journey

Is a challange to set aside time and visit the story of faith recorded in the New Testament. This story has changed the world view of many persons over the centuries. It is an invitation to experience the creative power of the voice of God and allow Him to create in you a new life of faith and hope and purpose.

The staff of Fresno Adventist Academy have purposed to participate with their students in this journey. We hope that our journey will inspire you seek the face of God for yourself.

Day 1

The goal is to read each passage as a personal devotional. Take it as it reads. Find the words, themes, and stories that speak to you where you are in your search for faith. For this day let the Word of God speak to your heart.

After reading I hope that you take the time to post your reflections on your reading. Share what God is speaking to you. Your response could be the inspiration that someone needs to make it through the day.
